DC

Tomorrow morning Brad and I are off to DC for a few days! We will be attending his grandmother's funeral service on Monday, at Arlington National Cemetary. The rest of the time I hope to be sightseeing & getting some excellent Spring shots of DC in full bloom! The Cherry Blossom Festival coincidentally begins this weekend, and I LOVE cherry blossoms...yay.

Our weekend in Victoria

On the Clipper, heading up to Victoria, BC.

When we checked in to our hotel The Inn at Laurel Point, which we just loved instantly! Hands down friendliest staff ever. They also upgraded us to a fabulous suite upon check-in. I of course responded with "sa-sweet!", naturally. During the 24 hours we were in the hotel they brought me a comb (forgot my hairbrush, oops), delivered a pizza take out menu, brought wine glasses & a corkscrew, and granted us a late check-out for Sunday, etc. They were always up to our room in just moments if we needed something. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, thank you Coffey for the great tip!

The view from our deck, looking out into the Inner Harbour (I put a "u" in there just like the Canadians do) ;) We noticed that many words followed this pattern: flavour, colour, harbour...you get it.

It was such a nice and relaxing weekend! We spent Saturday wandering around hotels & shops, just checking stuff out. We went to an Irish Pub called The Sticky Wickett for a little March Madness and some lunch. Then back to the hotel for a swim, followed by some fabulous pizza from a local place called The Joint, then just stayed in & watched a movie and enjoyed Nanaimo bars for dessert. A wonderful weekend!

Victoria, eh?

*photo taken by our friends Erin & Steve, on their visit to Victoria last year.

Yes Brad & I are off to Victoria, bright and early tomorrow morning! Looking forward to a relaxing weekend, exploring the beautiful city of Victoria, BC. Looks like the first day of Spring will bring us some beautiful sunny weather on our travels, fortunately!

Hope everyone has a lovely Spring weekend!

Catching up...

Well...what can I say? It's been a fairly uneventful last few weeks around here. I was sick for a couple weeks, Brad's grandma passed away and we went to her funeral down in Medford, OR. I hung out with Crystal before she headed off to Cambodia, and enjoyed a few days of rare Seattle February/March sun!

This weekend we will be celebrating the birth of Marge, with a little Marge Madness tomorrow night at the Wilde Rover...should be quite fun! Then Brad and I are off to Victoria next weekend for a make-up Valentines Day getaway we missed when his Grandma became ill. After that we are off to DC for a few days for her burial at Arlington National Cemetary, a little sightseeing, and hopefully a rendevous with The Reynolds.

In other news, I think I learned for sure that I am allergic to bananas and/or potassium. I have had a feeling that bananas make me feel ill after I eat them, but I wanted to make certain so I put one in my smoothie yesterday (felt naseous for the following hour after) and did not put one in today (feel great). Bye bye bananas...sad to see you go because I really love you, but it is not worth feeling like I am going to throw up every time I eat one.

On a completely different topic...does anyone else hate hands free cell phone methods as much as I do? I don't know if it's just me, but I can't hear for my life in my bluetooth, and everyone tells me there is a terrible echo when we talk. So I have always used my handy little wired headset to chat with peeps while I am out driving around obeying the law. Well, silly me must have had this thing on my lap last night when I got out of my car & it fell into the street. This morning I walked outside my building and I found it crushed and broken in the middle of 10th Ave :( Apparently it had a rough night getting run over many times...sorry headset, RIP.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Finally!!!!

I have seriously been DYING for Friday Night Lights to hurry up and get back to NBC for Season 4! Without Direct TV, I have just been waiting and waiting all year long, but they finally announced that it will be airing on Friday, April 30th!

I.cannot.wait.

And since I am BFF's with Matt Saracen, it's been hard to wait almost an entire year for this. Now if only I could get a phone call sometime from Coach Taylor...hmmm....

Pasta Freska

RUN, don't walk, to Pasta Freska! Brad and I went to dinner there on Saturday night for his dad's 60th birthday. Our meal was so incredible! We enjoyed an amazing seven course Italian meal at this adorable, hole-in-the-wall style restaurant on Westlake Ave in Seattle. It was so good, it felt like we were back in Italy! I can't believe I have lived within 3 miles of this place for almost 8 years & I've never eaten there. If you're ever in the mood for a fabulous, fairly inexpensive & very authentic Italian meal...I would highly recommend this place!

Leah's Baby Shower

On Saturday we celebrated our cute little Leah as she is about to have a baby girl next month! It was such a fun afternoon, catching up with the girls and playing with the babies. Many thanks to Leah's Grandma Dorothy, for hosting such a pretty shower in her amazing house!

Our darling mom-to-be!

The cupcake bear was definitely my favorite food item at the shower, yum!
